The Steffes Emissions Reduction Unit (ERU) is an integrated emissions-control and product recovery system engineered to eliminate routine flaring and optimize the handling of tank and treater vapors. A dedicated integrated controller works alongside the ERU’s mechanical components to continuously monitor operating conditions, coordinate system functions, and make real-time adjustments that optimize overall performance, emissions reduction, and product recovery.

The ERU stabilizes variable vapor streams through a sealed, oil-free compression mechanism that prevents hydrocarbon dilution and maintains tank compliance. Vapor is routed through a two-phase separator, where heavier hydrocarbons condense into liquids, enhancing crude recovery, while the remaining gas is conditioned and recycled back into the sales line.

Designed for small, intermittent, and variable-flow production sites, the preliminary results of the ERU have shown its ability to operate at flows ranging from 10-125 MCFD with a pressure capability up to 150 psi. Its oil-less, direct-drive design minimizes environmental risk and reduces maintenance while delivering consistent performance across extreme weather conditions.

The integrated controller manages system sequencing, protective interlocks, and performance optimization with minimal operator input. Housed within an all-weather enclosure, the ERU enables continuous, remote operation reducing emissions, improving product recovery, and supporting regulatory compliance across upstream operations.
